The 100 in 100 Campaign is nearing its end. The campaign is officially scheduled to close on Jan 18 with campaign wrap up and final pledge collection as tasks following the campaign close. Greater Stark County Urban League Begins Its Recognition of the 100th Anniversary of the National Urban League with a Canton City Council Resolution
4th Ward City Councilperson Chris Smith introduced a resolution at the January 11, 2010 Canton City Council meeting commending the 100th Anniversary of the National Urban League. The Resolution was introduced and read to the audience which included 28 supporters of the local affiliate in shirts bearing the Urban League logo. The Greater Stark County Urban League will host a Community Celebration in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., on Monday January 18 beginning at noon at the Southeast Community Center, 1400 Sherrick Rd. SE. Sponsors include Leila Green of the Alliance of Black School Educators. Nadine McIlwain-Massey, Executive Director of Coming Together Stark County, will be mistress of ceremonies. Keynote speaker is Will Dent, president and chief executive officer of Association of Better Community Development. Program will include the MLK Celebration Choir, Community Choir, presentation of the Outstanding Community Service Awards, and exhibits from 10 a.m. to noon and after the program. The weather outside is STILL frightful, but there’s no need to stay inside!! The Greater Stark County Urban League will host an MLK Party beginning at 7pm on Friday January 15, 2010 at the Southeast Community Center, 1400 Sherrick Road SE in Canton.
Come out and enjoy a great party as we celebrate the last weekend of the “100 in 100: Restoring the Urban League” Campaign.
Join Monique Conner, Viola Fisher and the rest of the event committee as they have some fun, play cards, line dance, and just enjoy being around friends and family.

Out of respect for Antioch Baptist Church’s memorial service for the late Rev. W.C. Henderson, the Greater Stark County Urban League has canceled its gospel concert for Sunday.
The Henderson memorial will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Antioch at 1844 Ira Turpin Way. NE.
The concert will be rescheduled in February.
