Pollworkers Needed

The Stark County Board of Elections is seeking applications from registered voters to work at polling locations throughout Stark county. The Primary Election will be held Tuesday, May 5, 2009. Pollworkers are compensated at a rate of $92.65- $112.65 for Election Day. New pollworkers will receive paid training. Pollworkers must have reliable transportation, and be available on Election Day from 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Cancellations occur daily; pollworkers not immediately assigned, are used as positions become available. Individuals are also needed to serve on a standby basis for Election Day. If you are interested in serving at the polls on Election Day, please contact the Board of Elections office. Vince Watts presents the Wii Fitness to the lucky winner.

A Health Fair was held at the Urban League’s Sherrick Road office on Saturday April 18. The Fair was a collaboration of the Urban League, The Mary Church Terrell Club, CareSource, Multi-Development Services of Stark County and Aulman Hospital. Blood pressure screenings were done by Aultman medical staff. Attendees participated in line dancing for fitness and visited the information booths of the many vendors that particpated. Prizes were awarded including Walmart gift cards and a Wii console and Fitness system. Congressman John Boccieri made a special vist and addressed the audience. In his comments, Congressman Boccieri spoke about his and President Obama’s commitment to healthcare for all Americans. Thank you to Congressman Boccieri, the attendees and the organizations that participated. Special thanks to Walmart for their support and to Aultman Hospital for providing the Wellness on Wheels van.
